While we were snarfing pretty much anything that crossed our paths in Oz, EatingAsia passed 10,000 hits. Homer Simpson voice: Whoo whoo! I'm pretty jazzed about it.
I know, I know -- you food bloggers who get more than 10,000 hits a WEEK are having a big old yawn right now; this is less than a non-event for you. But when I started this thang a little over two months ago I was getting, like, 6 hits a day. All friends and family, you can be sure. Reaching 10,000 hits ever seemed unlikely at best.
I do EatingAsia for fun, and practice, but it's nice to know someone out there is actually reading my dribble (and drools over Dave's photos). What's been really cool is reading comments and email from fellow chow-centric folks all over the place.
A celebration is in order (Dave agrees). So what I'm gonna do is offer some lucky reader a wee taste of Malaysia. Here's the deal: send me an email (link's on the page). Subject line should be "10,000 hits". Emailer Number One Hundred (am I crazy? do I really want that many emails? oh well, it's a good, round number) wins. I'll send you, whomever you will be, a reply asking for your mailing address and phone number (for UPS, etc.). Then just sit back and wait for your (small -- international delivery fees and all) goody bag from Malaysia.
Whatever I send should be OK with customs anywhere -- nothing fresh, properly packaged and all that.
One condition -- recipient must agree to cook up whatever's in the treat sac and email comments. Within a month of receipt, say. If you can include a pic of the results, so much the better. Winner, please keep your part of the bargain!
A pitiful, shameless bid on my part to increase readership? Nope -- this is simply one-off "thanks".

RE: stats. Congrats. Not sure if you're just using Typepad's crappy thing or something else. But I can recommend Statcounter - http://www.statcounter.com/ - it's free and invisible if you want it to be. Just copy and paste the code into a Typelist "notes section". Configure it "as text". And you're done. Graphs, referalls etc.
