Props of the Harry Potter reference.

The texture of these wheat noodles reminds me of "knife cut noodles" in Beijing.

Chubby - I have never read a Harry Potter book nor have I seen any of the movies, so the ref is entirely coincidental. Care to enlighten?

Rasa - see my reference to dao shao mian (knife cut noodles) in the text. You have just inadvertently revealed that, in spite of all the nice things you say about my writing, you are here only for the food photos! Thanks from Dave. :-P

That looks so brilliant, I'm now contemplating leaving and searching for that mee but sadly other obligations call. Never mind, that'll be on next week's eating schedule.

Robyn,

Sure! =) In the second Harry Potter book/movie, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, there's a particularly flamboyant wizard who writes a series of self-promotional books. The title of one of his books is "Magical Me", and it gets reference on several occasions. In the movie, the wizard is played by Shakespearean legend Kenneth Branagh, who does a spectacular job.

I'm actually very fond of the Harry Potter series. While they're obviously written for children, the prose is sharp and the humor is quite witty. I highly recommend trying the first two shorter books our if you ever have a few spare hours to see if they're your cup of tea.

I am so busted!! As I said, I am a photographer wannabe. Let me work on one thing at a time...photography first and then writing. LOL. That being said, great minds still think alike. We both think of the same thing. ;)

Was in the area today and had the mushroom noodles for the first time. Maybe it's just today, but the soup was rather bland and a tad too starchy like she added cornstarch to the broth. I could only eat it after squeezing the lime into the soup and added a touch of soy.

Loved the generous topping of mushrooms though :) And I liked how 'home cooked' it was.

Thanks for introducing this place.
(I also took a stroll to Sim Wah Bee. The old lady in the picture was there, doing the exact same thing)

As usual I'm salivating while I read this post and admiring the photography.
