To those who've found their way here via the Typepad link (and by any other means, for that matter), come on in! We welcome you with smiles as big as the one the face of this coconut vendor in Medan, Sumatra (Indonesia).
EatingAsia offers up regular servings of writings on and photos of (mostly Southeast) Asian culinary culture. We're not a restaurant-review-a-day blog, we're irregular recipe posters (pure laziness on Robyn's part - she's working on it), and we eat low to the ground (sometimes literally - have you seen those tiny stools in Vietnam?!) so you'll rarely find 'finer' dining-related info here. But if it's everyday Southeast Asian food in situ that piques your interest there's probably a previous post or several that will appeal - snuffle around in the category list at the sidebar.

thanks so much for all those wonderful writings about southeast Asian cooking adventures. They are worth a whole book---if only I can keep them on a shelf! Very valuable infos as well as photos!

What a delight to find this blog! Right away the pictures of the chom choms (rambutams, right?) bring back wonderful memories of life in Vietnam. Oh, how I long to return, if only the fruit! Mangosteens...longans, coconut juice, mangos, pineapple, dragonfruit...I better stop! I will definitely be following your blog and living vicariously through your wonderful foods.
