occasionally circumstances dictate the inclusion of non-food topics.
If you are an animal lover, Malaysian or otherwise, please read this blog post about a Kuala Lumpur municipality's inexcusably wrong-headed approach to dealing with our stray dog problem. Then go here and add your name to a petition asking the Selayang Municipal Council to cease and desist. (If you're a foreigner, please say so in the comments section.) Its money would be better - and more humanely - spent identifying and fining irresponsible pet owners and undertaking a mass neutering campaign.
Concerns about these sorts of tactics are what prompted us to rescue a stray mother dog and her six puppies from an abandoned house in our neighborhood last year. We don't all have the means to take on that kind of burden. But we can all sign a petition.
OK. I'm off my soap box. And now, back to food.

Thank you so much for highlighting this terrible issue. And for rescuing the mama dog and her six puppies. I, for one, am grateful for your humanity and your soapbox.

Thanks Preeta. We ended up keeping the mother dog and one pup that we couldn't find a home for. Did we need two more dogs? Not by a long shot. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
