Happy Year of the Rat
Gee, we always thought Mickey was a mouse.
We've left Bangkok and are now in the southern part of the Philippines, enjoying some fine home cooking and eating lots of gorgeous seafood. Expect more Bangkok stories, a bit of Manila, and some fish tales when we return next week.
In the meantime - Happy Chinese New Year! Xin Nian Kuai Le!

Have a wonderful break!!

I have been reading your website for a long time. Let me ask you this: If you were celebrating an anniversary or a birthday and you wanted to go out and eat, where would you go if you were in KL. Do you ever eat at restaurants? At least restaurants that are a bit more upmarket than the places you have been reviewing?

Gong Xi Fa Cai! It's my year, you know. Although I don't think I'm in line for much good luck gastronomically... for now!

Thanks all!
jasbir - assume you got my email. For anyone else interested in 'upscale' food in KL, we highly recommend Max's Kitchen and Neroteca (the latter not quite as upscale). Both small operations.
juls - we're back in KL. We were in Agusan Norte and Surigao, spent the wknd after CNY in Manila to work on an article on eating in the city. Our trip was much too short and we'll return to Mindanao for a longer stay sometime this year, I hope.
Mama BoK - we do have some good stuff to share, in the coming wks.
