Ahhhh yum! Those gozleme sound amazing. Gozleme are a staple of the Sydney market scene... some are great and some are just too oily. But those ones look perfect! :)

Eat your hearts! These ladies are from my hometown, Amasya. Next time you see ladies from Amasya ask for ; "baklalı bohça sarma, haşhaşlı çörek" and "keşkek", if you interested local food.

The gozleme sound incredibly delicious, but I wonder if I can do it justice in my kitchen here. I have to think part of its appeal was eating in the market. There is just something so special about wandering through food markets and sampling the local delicacies.

fotographiafoodie - Thanks. These were either shot with a Canon 50mm 1.2 or 35mm 1.4. The 35 is relatively new to me but I can't seem to take it off the camera. Great lens.

Path to Asia

I though those gozleme were pita or pitta,of which I think it is widely consumed in turkey and in many middle eastern and mediterranean cuisine. Foods in Asia are also very appetizing and with different variety.same with its culture and people. By the way, your photos are grand,nice pix.

Oyster Culture - it was definately great to watch these women make the gozleme ... but if you could serve me the exact same thing right here at my desk in KL I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy it just as much. ;-)

Mesut - lucky you! We visited Amasya in 1990. It's beautiful and I'd love to go back ... with your list of recommended local dishes.

I buy Gozleme every Sunday at the Addison Rd Markets in Marrickville - and the gozleme looks identical to yours. I have had had others where they over use the butter/oil but the Addison Rd mob's gozleme is fabulous. Not oily and not salty - and it doesnt leave you feeling overfull. Its great food and thanks to those women who come to the markets every weekend! ps I also reckon that it is really healthy as well as tasty.
