Southeast Asian food bloggers are headline news (at least until we're bumped by the next article)over at Global Voices, a Harvard Law School-associated online publication covering the blogosphere. I've idled away a good number of hours at this fantastic site, reading about everything from politics to pet worries from bloggers all over the world. Ever wondered what bloggers in say, Kazahkstan, are writing about? Click on the country name in the Global Voices header and in no time you'll know all the news that's fit to blog coming out of Almaty and beyond.
In today's (yesterday's) issue you'll find a great article by Jose Manuel Tesoro about the food blogosphere in our little corner of the world. Shameless plug -- I'm one of five featured!
When Jose contacted me a month or so ago about participating, I passed a bit of time wondering who the other four SE food bloggers might be. I knew, of course, that this guy would be one of them -- he's everywhere these days (what I wouldn't give for a quarter of his hits). And I'm glad to see Jose didn't limit himself to one blogger per country, allowing him to include this Hanoi-based chowhound duo. They seamlessly mix street food and proper restaurant reviews, and illustrate it all with some very droolworthy photos.
I really hoped that Jose would feature this blog out of Manila; marketman's encyclopedic knowledge of ingredients and how to use them is something I aspire to. Thanks to his site I am newly curious about food in the Philippines, and am considering a trip in 2006 to sample local delights (guided by lots of back reading on marketman's site, of course). And though much of this blogger's high-end dining is beyond our budget (and way beyond my wardrobe, to tell the truth), he and his wife temper their event dining with a good bit of closer-to-the-ground Singaporean grub and some fine at-home cooking as well.
Best part of the article? Check out the lead photo -- Dave finally gets proper credit for the hard work (and the occasional extra pound) he puts into into EatingAsia.
Enjoy!
Congratulations! Now I can say that I knew both you when ...

When my English was better, I guess. I meant "Now I can say that I knew both of you when ..."
