As a supplement to our recent ZesterDaily article and slideshow on the fabulous Sunday market in Istanbul's Tarlabaşı Dave has posted some photographs of daily life in the 'hood on his photo blog. Wandering around and talking to some of the residents of the neighborhood made for one of our most enjoyable days in 3+ weeks in Istanbul. We hope we're able to get back for another visit before too much of it falls to the wrecking ball.

Women and children - Nice! One of the reasons I asked on the other post - if relocating appeals more to the younger generation is for the children - not a particularly 'nice' neighborhood to bring up children - but then it's complicated I appreciate that.
Two men looking out the windows - no worse than my husband's DIY wiring at the back of our house really!
As for the dog in the window - don't suppose you and Dave passed this area in Taipei, did you? Opposite where I lived, between Taida and Shida. The cat is real, but the dog is a statue!
